Dr. Sal Corbin
The following speaker will moderate Relationship Skills 101: Relating to Men on March 27th at 4PM:
Dr. Corbin holds a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (1991) and a doctorate in Educational Psychology from Catholic University in Washington, DC (1998). He began his academic career teaching as an adjunct at several colleges and universities in the DC Metropolitan area while he completed his doctorate, which included a full-time appointment at West Virginia State College (1997-98), and later Northern Virginia Community College (2000-04). Additionally, he served as the Assistant Director of Education at the Computer Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia, and the Director of Education for the evening program at ECPI College of Technology in Manassas, VA (2001-05). He recently was the Assistant Director of Psychology for the Undergraduate program at UMUC (2006-2009).
Dr. Corbin is recognized in the 2002, 2004 and 2005 editions of Who's Who Among American Teachers, and also received the Student Success (2004) and Instructor Of The Year (2002) awards for ECPI College Of Technology. He was also awarded Teacher of the Year (2002) from the Virginia Career College Association and nominated for Instructor of the Year at the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College (2004). His research interest is in the area of trust issues and interpersonal relationship dynamics. He has conducted training seminars for the Metropolitan Transit Police Department, the National Student Leadership Conference, the National Congress of Black Women, and the Congressional Black Caucus. He currently serves as a Program Consultant for the East of the River Clergy Police Community Partnership, a nonprofit organization that assists youth and adults in need of life transformation.
